The Child and Youth Advocacy Center (CYAC) is seeking a hardworking, motivated individual to serve as full-time (40 hours per week) Executive Director. The CYAC is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to end child abuse in Greenbrier, Monroe, and Pocahontas Counties by coordinating a multidisciplinary team approach to investigation, prosecution, treatment, and prevention. The CYAC serves 200 to 300 children and families each year.

The Executive Director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that the Greenbrier, Monroe, and Pocahontas County Multidisciplinary Investigative Teams (MDITs) function properly and according to protocol. Connecting team members to training opportunities that will strengthen their ability to handle child abuse investigations.
  • Representing the CYAC in the community.
  • Coordinating all community education and awareness efforts.
  • Overseeing the development of programs and services.
  • Ensuring that the CYAC adheres to the National Children’s Alliance’s (NCA’s) Standards for Accredited Members. Leading the CYAC through NCA reaccreditation every five years.
  • Overseeing budget development and the day-to-day financial operations of the agency, including grant writing, grant reporting, and fundraising.
  • Recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising CYAC staff members.
  • Serving as a liaison to the CYAC’s Board of Directors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Executive Director is supervised by the Board of Directors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience with children and families and knowledge of issues involved in child abuse and neglect cases.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform forensic interviews and case management. Applicants who are not already Certified Forensic Interviewers may receive certification as part of employment.
  • Experience in nonprofit management, including financial management, and in working with a volunteer Board of Directors.
  • Strong communication and computer skills necessary.
  • Must be versatile, self-motivated, and accountable.
  • Must be able to think critically, manage stressful situations, and work as part of a team.

Annual salary commensurate to education, experience, and training. The CYAC provides employees with a generous benefits package that includes health insurance; vision, dental, and life insurance; and retirement.
